On this private charter the boat and captain are here for you. Our departure time is flexible - generally mid morning when the wind starts to pipe up - and we'll return to the dock around 6 hours later. Upon boarding we'll check the wind and weather forecast and the chart, and you will help plot a course for your day-long adventure. Everyone has a chance to steer the boat and handle the sail as we run through protected St. Peter's Inlet – studded with small islands and quiet harbours – on to the big lake. Chances are you'll see eagles overhead, herons on the shore - and maybe a seal or two surfacing alongside the boat. You may wish to stop and anchor for lunch in a sheltered cove - where you can swim from the boat. Captain Greg can engage you in a discussion of the region's earliest inhabitants - the Mi'qmaks who have been here for about 10,000 years - or the more recent European explorers who came here to fish, harvest lumber and trade and finally settled the area beginning in the 17th century. We can talk about the music and language - and you can hear some Cape Breton tunes from the ship's extensive music library. There are many possibilities, including a sail around Chapel Island National Historic Site, a sacred place of our nearby First Nations community which has hosted an annual Catholic mission for almost 400 years.

During your day we offer cold drinks (sodas, juices and water) included with your charter fee. We can provide catered snacks or lunches – or you are welcome to bring your own food and beverages of your choice.

The Bras d'Or Lake is a UNESCO designated Biosphere, North America's largest inland sea, and a beautiful place to spend a few hours, or a lifetime.
